Underglass
Privacy Policy
Underglass is a set of widgets for your iPhone. It has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Almost everything it does happens on your iPhone and stays there.
What leaves your iPhone
Only these three things, and only when they're needed:
Purchases, through Apple
Packs, the Underglass Pass and Lifetime are bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells Underglass only what you're entitled to. We never see your name, Apple Account or payment details.
Weather, through Apple's WeatherKit
If you use a weather widget, Underglass asks Apple's WeatherKit for the forecast at the place you set. That request carries the place's coordinates (about a kilometre's precision) and nothing that identifies you. The place follows your iPhone's location while you allow it, or is a town you search for in Settings › Weather. A search sends what you type to Apple Maps to find the town; Underglass keeps only the place you choose.
Test captures, in TestFlight builds only
Pre-release TestFlight builds can upload a screenshot of the app with its state (device model, iOS version, settings that affect the screen, and the app's recent purchase and location logs) when a tester takes a capture, so we can fix what they saw. The version on the App Store has no capture feature and uploads nothing.
What stays on your iPhone
- Calendar. With your permission, the Next event and Month widgets read your calendars on your iPhone. Events are never uploaded or stored anywhere else.
- Location. While you allow it, Underglass takes a town-level reading when you open it, and a weather widget may take one when iOS lets it, only to set the weather place. It keeps the current place, plus a short log of its last 30 location steps (town names, no coordinates) to help fix problems. Both stay on your iPhone.
- Photos. Add-only access, used only to save the black wallpaper you ask for. Underglass can't see your photos.
- Device readings. The thermal state, battery level and storage that iOS reports, and their history, are kept in the app on your iPhone.
What we don't do
- No analytics, crash reporting or advertising services, and no third-party code that collects data.
- No tracking across apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of data.
- No account or sign-in.
Your choices
You can turn Location, Calendar and Photos access on or off at any time in Settings › Apps › Underglass, or from Settings › Permissions in the app. Deleting the app deletes everything it kept on your iPhone.
Children
Underglass collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its date.
